Who we are

Framing the Moment is building a platform city by city for the people who act, direct, write, shoot and stage work far from Hollywood. Screen, theater, and every other corner of the business where someone performs for a living.

There is an industry outside the two or three cities that get called “the industry.” It is working, not aspiring. It just has no press covering it, no awards pointed at it, and almost no pictures of itself.

So we photograph people on the way up — not after they have arrived and somebody else finally takes the picture, but mid-climb, while it still counts. That is what the name means: a moment, framed, before it becomes a career retrospective.

We charge for a package because production costs money — a studio, a crew, lighting, editors, a colourist. We are not a fundraiser and we are not a favour. What we are is deliberate about who gets access to images this good, because that access has never been evenly handed out, and it decides more rooms than anyone admits.

Every participant leaves owning work they can use, for less than that work is worth. City by city, that adds up to a record of an industry that the industry has not been paying attention to.
